Format:Blu-ray
This was much better than the 2010 Christmas special, a good hearted family Christmas tale with some elements of the lion the witch and the wardrobe thrown in, theres nothing major in the way of action and it lacked a good villain but I guess its for kids, it has nothing on the excellent sixth series, but overall it was funny and has the usual wit from Matt Smith to carry it along smoothly, its probably best to wait for the seventh series box set to get it though rather than pay extra for it. I think the highlight of the episode was seeing the lovely Karen Gillan at the end.

This is Dr Who for kids who like disney. There's nothing wrong with this but if you're a Who fan expecting anything more then you'll probably be disappointed. Matt Smith is my favourite Doctor but I don't think I was the intended audience when this story was written, I think I'll leave it at that. Approach with caution.

Doctor Who. Christmas Evening. Brilliant. Usually. This was such a disappointment. No thrill, No chill. Just syrup poured thickly. Where was the threat? Where was the excitement? Wooden aliens - okay but the story was paper thin. Worse than Pound-shop Christmas wrapping sheets. I enjoyed Downton Abbey more! I've been watching for 45 years and this was like the bad old days of JNT but with better acting and special effects. Next Christmas real aliens and real threat please. (Oh and can we have the yeti, quarks and ice warriors back soon... please?)

This was a present for my son in-law who thoroughly enjoyed it. The casting is good and so is the story line.

Worthy of my collection
As an avid Matt Smith and Dr Who fan, my collection would not be complete without the 2011 Xmas special. Very good value and excellent extras.

getting better
Not the best christmas special but certainly not the worst, good enough to pass the time of day for a bit. For this price its well worth getting.

Missed the Christmas special!Then Sky + failed. Not on the iPlayer any-more.
Amazon was the only site I found it on. Made my daughters New Year.
