My son who is now 9 went crazy for Doctor Who when it first came back on our screens several years ago. We ended up buying quite a few bits of merchandise, but I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised by the fine quality of the action figures. We have had the Cybermen for about 4 years now, and they are still as good as new.
The little fella stands about 6 inches tall, and can stand on his own, unlike many inferior action figures. There is a good likeness to the Cybermen from the TV show and he is a dull silver colour. What really reflects the quality of the figure is the amount of joints he has. You can move his head all the way round, as well as cocking it to the side to give him some "attitude"! His shoulder move, as do his elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. This gives the figure a good range of movement and poseability. His size makes him compatible with the other figures in the range. The detail is great, even to small things, like the ridges on the bottom of his shoes.
My son played with the toy a lot when we bought it, as we have several Cyberman figures, some Daleks and a Doctor, as well as a werewolf, who I reviewed some time ago. Unfortunately, lately, my son is more obsessed with football that anything else, and if the Cyberman gets played with, he is more likely to be a striker or goalie in the "action figure" team. I suppose that is an advantage of action figures. there are no limits to what you can play with them, and they can be anything you want them to be.
This Cyberman toy is at home as part of a toy collection, but equally suitable for serious collectors, as he looks fantastic, and as I have said, very high quality. The toy would look great on display with similar figures, or as part of a whole army of Cybermen on display.
Sadly, in our case, he is a bit of a forgotten toy, for the moment, until my son realises that Mr Cyberman is the new Frank Lampard. But that shows how faddy kids are. GOAL!!!!! My money is on the Dalek team!
