4.0 out of 5 stars Doctor Who, 14 July 2003
This review is from: Doctor Who: the Abominable Snowman / The Web of Fear (BBC MP3 CD Audio) (Audio CD)
I am not hear to review the 2 stories that are currently on these CD's as they are both brilliant examples of Doctor Who at the best. Patrick Troughton is at his best with the regulars shining. What I am reviewing is the fact that the BBC in there wisdom have released them on MP3 Format. For those people who do not understand what this is. It is basically placing more information on a single CD. So what do you get for the money. You get two MP3 cd's, one containing The Abominable Snowmen and the second containing The Web of Fear. So the first positive is that you can listen to the stories with out having to change CD. Brilliant when it comes to Web of Fear as originally this was on 3 CD's. The quality is brilliant on both CD's and storage is a bonus as well. On the downside is that when I listen to it on Real Player One, there is a slight delay between tracks. This would not matter with Music but with a story it can be annoying.

Summary

Positive

1 - Cheaper than Buying both CD Versions
2 - Less CD's to change.
3 - Heaps of Potential from the BBC
4 - It has the Second Doctor
5 - Go quality Sound

Negative

1 - Probably not worth buying if you already own previous CD versions (unless you collect everything)
2 - Slight Delay between tracks
3 - The BBC will be releasing a Box Set called YETI Attack.

PS. I rate Abominable Snowmen 4.5/5 - Atmospheric and the Web of Fear - Slightly boring in parts but makes up with brilliant ending. 4/5
