3.0 out of 5 stars Sex and Drugs and Fashion Weirdness, 27 Jan 2005
By
Adam Adamant "Dungeonmaster" (Liverpool, England United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Doctor! I'm Too Big! (Paperback)
Okay well it's a sex comic fully painted by Noe take a look at the cover that's actually the interior art if you like the style you'll like the art inside if you don't quit now.

Still with me okay the book is and intresting and sly little comedy on sex, expectations and how society sees women and women see themselves.

Our heroine is an aspiring fashion model with a glamour models build after being criticised for her weight amongst a slew of walking sticks she sees the doctor who assures her she's perfectly formed for her height and build but she still insists on diet pills.

The doctor takes advantage of the situation (as most men in the story do) and she goes away armed with some pills that have a side effect on her libido.

A series of encounters and weird dreams follow mostly themed around sex, weight and fashion till the eventual if you'll pardon the pun climax.

There's a lot to like in this book it's lightweight on it's serious themes which is a shame but not really it's reason for being.

Sex scenes are numerous and varied but generally quite short. Theis isn't Noes best work but it's very accessable and a good place to start if you've never seen any of his work before. It could use a higher page count to expand on the plot, sex and other themes all of which feel a bit rushed and cramped.

Generally a solid book which is perhaps too ambitious for its format.

4.0 out of 5 stars Big style, small story, 29 July 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Doctor! I'm Too Big! (Paperback)
As is often the case with graphic novels, the visual quality precedes any lyrical attempts to bemuse the reader. It must be said, Noe has a keen eye for the erotic, and if this is the purpose: no bad choice at all. Just don't expect to find new insights other than physical ones, or it should be the medical advice that frequent exercise can't be beaten by a little pill.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Noe's best but still pretty good, 25 April 2001
By SH in Tampa "SPH" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Doctor! I'm Too Big! (Paperback)
A voluptuous women is used and abused by an insensitive modelling agent as she tries to compete with younger, skinner models. Tired of feeling overweight and unattractive, she visits the doctor to try and lose weight.

The doctor is only too happy to oblige with pills that have the additional side effect of making our heroine into a raving nymphomaniac.

The comic book is painted rather than drawn and better quality than many other books of this nature. The story line is basically a vehicle to move from depraved scene to depraved scene and is obviously translated.

The content is as obscene as Kevin Taylor's Girl. There are scenes of rape, bestiality and female bisexuality through out the book. This book is not for the faint hearted. However, if you are turned on by extreme pornography, I have not found another artist who delivers more hard core images. If you have never seen a Noe book before, try Convent from Hell or Ship of Fools first. If you liked those books, then you will enjoy this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting book, not the best, 11 April 2005
By Steve Vander - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Doctor! I'm Too Big! (Paperback)
Adult full-color graphic novel.

Connie is a woman that really wants to be a super-model but is unfortunately blessed with un-super-model features (large breasts and a healthy size rear-end; though she is thin otherwise).

The book opens with a scene with Connie at a model agency. A man (Katz) grabs one of her breasts and asks "What is this?" It's fat, the man notes, Connie is fat. The man wants Connie to stop eating, as he uses models that fill clothes, not rip them open. Connie really wants to be a model, though, and agrees to go back to the man's place as maybe Katz "can find something for" Connie. That something? Polishing his shoes, oh, and a photo shoot with a small company. Connie is very happy and is very grateful, providing the man with pleasure, until she storms out when the man calls her fat and frigid (oh, and apparently this "relationship" has been going on for two years).

Connie decides that enough is enough and goes to a doctor (Dr. Vesalio, Nutritionist, according to the name plate). He examines her thoroughly (very thoroughly) and finds that she has a healthy body. Connie doesn't believe him and the doctor gives her some miracle pills after she "pays" whatever the doctor asks.

Connie returns home, and takes some of the pills and goes to sleep. The "miracle" pills cause Connie to have some very strange dreams of bondage, a fat woman dressed like a rodent (fat Connie in the future), and causes Connie to have her first orgasm (apparently), and leads to many more (her libido is freed).

The next day, Connie goes off to her lingerie photo shoot (the shoot is conducted by two twins, one female, and one male). At the shoot, Connie begins to feel hungry, so she takes some pills and becomes horny. She has some fun with the twins and ends up with another job for one of the twins' friends. And the book continues on this path for another twenty-three pages.

The book is interesting, the characters are quite strange and the plot flows along thinly. The book contains bondage, whipping, lesbianism, rape, and fantasy sequences.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fun!, 28 Mar 2003
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Doctor! I'm Too Big! (Paperback)
Aside from some slight problems (such as the supposed 'voluptous' body is really just breast implants.. she's still as skinny as all the 'waifs'), this comic is fun and interesting. It doesn't attempt to be deep or philosophical, and that's fine with me!

And don't forget the surprise ending!

A great addition to any collection!
