Amazon.co.uk Review
The title says it all--the abominable Dr Phibes Rises Again and he's as ruthless as ever. No longer content with merely avenging his wife's death, Phibes is now bent on her resurrection. With his mute assistant, Vulnavia, he sets off for Egypt, meting out bizarrely elaborate deaths--everything from clockwork snakes to a particularly severe exfoliation treatment--to all who stand in his way. This time Phibes has two competitors to race against: the trusty Inspector Trout and the renowned archaeologist Biederbeck, who has his own reasons for chasing Phibes. Like its predecessor, Dr Phibes Rises Again adds dark wit and imaginative art direction to the mix. Vincent Price is once again in high form, playing his organ with swooping arms and adding dry comic touches with a delicately cocked eyebrow. Watch out for cameos from a host of familiar faces, including Peter Cushing, Terry Thomas and Beryl Reid. --Ali Davis

Synopsis
Evil Doctor Phibes returns from a decade of suspended animation and is still looking for an elixir to revive his long dead wife. Sequel to "THE ABOMINABLE DR. PHIBES".

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the original !, 16 Nov 2007
By Karel Bata (London (a posh bit)) - See all my reviews
Better by far in fact. If you enjoyed The Abominable Dr. Phibes and are thinking of seeing this, then hesitate no more! The excellent Robert Fuest delivers the goods again with style and panache.

And if you liked the Phibes movies, track down Fuest's 'And Soon The Darkness' (scripted by Terry Nation and Brian Clemens in top form).

3.0 out of 5 stars Dr Phibes Rises Again., 10 April 2009

(REAL NAME)
Good hokey 1970s fun. The film picks up where the Abonimable Dr Phibes leaves off with Phibes attempting to revive his beloved using the secrets of ancient Egypt. The film features a distinguished cast including Robert Quarry, Peter Cushing, Terry Thomas, John Thaw and Peter Jeffrey amongst others. It also features the same level of ingenuity in dispatching them as its prequel. Not as original or as gruesomely funny as the original, but a good addition to any collection of a bigone era of Horror films.

4.0 out of 5 stars V for Vendetta....., 28 Aug 2008
By R. V. Halward - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
...and an absolute scream (sorry)...

Vincent Price is back with the sole aim of restoring his dead wife to life, ably assisted by silent (and rather sexy) assasin, Vulnavia...

The opening scene is magic, as Price is restored to life and camply sets about inspecting his (now demolished) house. From here we're whisked from London, to Egypt and beyond as the trail for the key to eternal life hots up between Phibes and his Rival explorer...

The death scenes and gags are good, if not quite up there with part 1 or the magnificent 'Theatre Of Blood' (Price's masterwork), but there's more than enough fun to be had with the clockwork snakes, squash boxes and scorpion chairs... ouch...

Shot on film in the early 70's, the film retains a suitably odd look thanks to the rapidly evolving technology, and cameos from heavyweights such as Terry Thomas and the magnificent Peter Cushing add gravitas...

A frightening treat...
