I have 3 words for this book and they are: Brilliant,Brilliant and Brilliant!
I read this book in 1 day as I couldn't put it down!
It is about a brother and sister called Tim and Pip who move into a house which is centuries old. They meet a boy who is 600 years old,who has been hidden away in a secret room in their house where he has be sleeping for many years, so he can come back and with the help of Tim and Pip to hopefully beat the evil alchemist!
This book is great escapism,I recomend it for ages 10-110!

I as a mother of an 11 year old, I read this book last night. It has to be said that I read it in one sitting, not being able to put it down. The author gets straight into the action within the first chapter...and continues to keep the pace going from there. The book seems well researched and passes the information on in a way that older children will understand and love. There are parts that are quite graphic in their "nastiness" however most children probably would see worse on television...that being said it is a book for children over 11 or 12. The second book is due out in the summer of 2004...and I and my daughter can't wait!

Martin Booth, has, in my opinion done it again! This book was a fantastic read, I could not put it down, the moment I read the first page I was hooked. Consequently I locked myself away and spoke to nonone until I had finshed! The book is beautifully written and with narrative that you can lose your imagination in. It feels,at times that you are actually there experiencing the adventure with Pip and her brother- it's hard not to rush to the next page. There were no weak parts to the book and although this is written as a childrens book I defy any adult who reads this to say that they did not enjoy it! I wait eagerly for the next installment!
