Received my shipment on Wednesday. Completed viewing all four series by Thursday evening, and am hooked. I worked 25 yrs. in healthcare, and Doc Martin reminds me of someone I use to work for. He was as much as a character as Doc Martin, with little to no people skills. The cast of village characters is also quite a hoot! The groupies walking together always laughing and mocking others; the pharmacist with the neck ring who has a secret love for Doc Martin; Doc's two receptionists...one who was always on the phone talking to her boyfriend and no employment skills and the other who developed a gambling problem; the plumber and his son, with about as much plumbing talent as you can put in a hatbox; Stephanie Cole's character as the aunt; the array of patients for Doc to care for, while trying to stay away from blood! Almost as if lost in a time warp. I recently heard that there is going to be a Series 5 with a Christmas special. I hope this is true. Nice to sit down to quality programming. Being from the USA, this is my first time being introduced to Martin Clunes. I loved Celia Imrie on the first program of Series 1. It would be nice to have her character reintroduced back into a Series 5.

The content is exactly as I expected and I am perfectly happy with it. What I find irritating is the fact that I can't watch any of the DVD without first having to sit through 5-10 minutes of advertising for other productions. After the first showing this becomes extremely tedious and it is on every one of the 8 DVDs.

I loved it!!!
Ive watched the tv series over the years, but with so many channels to choose and its all been a bit hit and miss with what episode Ive watched and when.
So to watch the whole series in one go( over a few nights), it was good.
Its about a London based doctor who is Haemophobic (not sure of spelling, but he reacts badly to blood).
He goes to live in a small Cornish village by the sea and its the usual escapades that you find on this type of series.
He has a very abrasive bedside manner and tells it as he sees it, without thought before speaking.
He gets involved with the local schoolteacher and its not the most romantic of relationships.
If you want a gentle comedy type series to ease any tensions, then this is it.

love the actual show but the discs??
Can't fault the lovely show at all but the actual discs seem to have a problem. I'm in New Zealand & buy UK shows more from Amazon UK than from NZ. Read more

Good fun, particularly the west country gals, dizzy, plump and funny. The writer has spent a long time down that way.
