5.0 out of 5 stars More than just a "How to book", 19 Aug 2007
By Djh Barrick "Dark Meanings" (Hampshire uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The Do-it-yourself Gunpowder Cookbook by Don Mclean is more that just a how to book if offers you a safe and factual guide in how to make several gunpowders in a survival situation.
It also covers a historical where, who and how of gunpowder, and how to extrack the basic compounds used to manufacture gunpowder from the soil.

A very insightfull and usefull read.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good read, for the explosives enthusiast., 6 Sep 2000
By A Customer
I thought that this book was ok. It isn't very up to date and most of the diagrams were irrelevent.

The main problem with this book is that it is mainly about how gunpowder is made and not how to make gunpowder. The safety advice is quite useful though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting and informative, 9 May 2009
By S. J. Sharpe "Bisected8" (Shropshire, England) - See all my reviews

A good, quick guide to making explosives. If you're going to be an idiot and try and make some, you may as well know how to do it safely after all.

On a more serious note, this would make a reasonable addition to any surival kit (having a bit of blasting powder would, at the very least, make life on a desert island more interesting after all).

5.0 out of 5 stars Very safe read
I found this book a very safe read. After blowing off both my thumbs with some homemade "boom-dust", I was completely unable to open the book to make any more. Read more
