Fred Neil was according to his producer, Nik Venet "Probably the most famous and financially successful "cult artist" in the history of the world!.....and could have been even bigger if he’d wanted to be....but he just didn’t!" A definitive collection of this extraordinary and enigmatic artist's Capitol Records period, including both his 1966-67 albums for the label, and several inreleased tracks.....includes seminal Fred Neil classics "Everybody's Talkin"", "The Dolphins", and "The Other Side To This Life"....the absolutely essential Fred Neil on one CD, in other words!

This is an excellent CD and highly recommended. One fairly significant point however is that the album contains just 17 tracks, not the 22 shown on the track listing. Nonetheless, at over one hours running time it is still excellent value.

Never to forget Fred. 21 Nov. 2004
By Donald Shearer - Published on Amazon.com

Fred Neil is often overlooked by simply never being mainstream. Having seen him in person over 25 years ago reminds me of who and how important he was to my concept of "mainstream" music.

Long may his music live my heart.

Timeless voice; timeless music 9 Jun. 2013

I fist met Fred Neil while in college. He played a set at a small coffee shop in Coconut Creek, Florida, near my apartment in South Miami. His baritone voice, leaning over a 12-string, solo, was unforgettable. This import recording is superb, combining his "Fred Neil" tracks with several more from another album. The liner notes are detailed and the packaging is elegant. If you enjoy authentic folk music, you won't be disappointed in this CD. Some quirky tracks? Hmmm. Yes. Let it go and have a great day with Fred!

Outstanding music 6 April 2009

I heard "Do You Ever Think of Me?" when I was 16 and then spent more than 30 years wondering about that song. I didn't remember the artist and no one to whom I described it could tell me including so-called experts at specialty stores. I finally heard it on my local public radio station and was very pleased to get a copy on Amazon. Fred is among many giants who were nearby but I never met them. Alas - I am just pleased to have his music and I will enjoy it for many years to come.

and remember all the times that your songs gave meaning to parts of my life that had little meaning of their own. I wish more people knew him and appreciated not just what he wrote but what he sang and how he sang...Faretheewell Fred, Faretheewell...
