This contains lots of "experiments" that can be tried at home. Some of the stuff like the water wheel have a touch of the Blue Peter about them. Note that like all of these books, you need to have stuff around the house like old yoghurt pots, paper plates, balls, pieces of dowell, string, wire etc. Fortunately, none of the items is rare, exotic or particularly expensive so in this respect it's very good.

Slight criticism in that the science could be better explained and more detailed (I'm a chemical engineer and therefore have some knowledge of science to start with but others may struggle). In this respect, this is not as good as a Science Museum book but it's still pretty good and gives plenty of scope for fun things to do in the summer holidays.

The enclosed DVD shows some more dangerous experiments!
