Pretty Good! I for one didn't really know too much about Django's life so the biography part was interesting. I really got this book for the music in it. It shows transcriptions of many songs (tab and chord sheet) and tips on how to play them.

I had been toying with the idea of attempting to play some Django Reinhardt songs for a while. I purchased the book before christmas and spent the 2 weeks i had free studying 'Minor Swing'. I also downloaded the original track from amazon (about 70p). The only trouble i've had is wiping the smile from my face at the joy of playing such amazing music. I'm no Django but have found the book easy to follow and it just sounds great! The first half of the book is dedicated to telling the story of Djangos life and makes for an enlightening distraction when your fingers are too sore from playing. Worth every penny!

This is great package if like me you had always coveted a bit of Django and liked the myth but wanted a bit more but not sure where to start? The text gives you enough detial to truly appreciate his genius and the creating of his masterpieces throughout a turbulant life. It also reveals his love of Louis Armstrong which is a revelation - that is why his style changed so dramatically after he left his iconic Selmer accoustic guitar behind and went to hollowbody instead. The gutiar tab is of course monstrously difficult! But it also breaks a song down into bitesize chunks that reveal the style of Django and give essential bits to learn and use in your own way. In this way then you do not have to learn all of Djangology to be able to spice up your own playing with some of his diminished runs and ascending/descending arppegios. Also the chords are clearly explained with diagrams and fingerings - recommended.

Nicely presented book on the colorful life of Django Reinhardt, the music offerings are the most accurate and clearly engraved taken from the Djangology recordings with easy to turn pages. This music to master is for the high level player and many different fingerings and patterns using half barre`s can be used as a preference to the individual player. The only downside to this excellent publication is that the CD only has the recordings of the complete pieces as played and no backing track option. Highly recommended.
