Product Description

Product Description

Coll thinks the boy she sees swimming every Thursday night is completely gorgeous - long and lean, powerful and strong. He becomes the fantasy that takes her out of her ordinary day-to-day existnce. And then he asks her out, and the dream becomes reality. Art is strong and powerful, and he's also quite pushy. Just what is Coll getting into?

From the Author

Hi! This is why I hope you'll read my book!
Diving In is now translated into Italian, German, Spanish, Swedish, Danish, Portuguese - and American! The Times reviewed Diving In as 'A good meaty read - an intelligent book with intelligent characters'; Mizz mag said it was 'Brilliant - a winner!' Even better, I got lots of great letters from readers, such as: 'Fantastic - so true to life. This book made me angry, and also made me laugh and cry.' Jo, Devon 'I couldn't put the book down it was so good.' Sara, Cornwall 'I nearly screamed when it finished.' Emma, Liverpool Why I wrote it: I was fed up with teenage books treating sex and relationships in only 2 ways: 1) Doomy, gloomy stuff about unwanted pregnancy, rape, abuse 2) Hopelessly fake romantic fluffy stuff with impossible characters I wanted to write something realistic about the power of falling in love and sex - and I wanted the final message to be a positive one! Coll is a strong, funny, independent heroine who has to deal with being poleaxed by Art, the object of her passion. She's crazy about him but she's not about to forget everything she is just to win his approval and keep him. People either love Art or hate him. I've got a very soft spot for him and I think it's entirely believable that Coll falls for him as hard as she does! To find out whether they make it together or not, read In the Deep End! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Amazing 30 Mar 2004
Format:Paperback
The first book in the Coll and Art Triology exploring the problems of being in a deep and emotional relationship at a young age, and being at that "in-between" age in life where you aren't quite old enough to enjoy adult activities, yet at the same time you're too old to be considered a child.

A very powerful novel which explores aspects of relationships most of us have experienced ourselves. Because of this, I think most people would be able to relate to Coll's perspective without a problem. A very important book for anyone to read, especially younger teenage girls. Even though I bought these books a number of years ago, I still find them very touching and engaging novels to read.

What can I say that everyone else hasn't? It's THE best book 've ever read (and I've read a lot)! I've read it so many times I've lost count. Not only is it emotional and thought provoking it's also very funny. It's written from Coll's point of view so it's sarcastic, witty and you can really understand how she feels. You MUST read it!!

Fisrt I wish to thank & congratulate Kate for writing such a wonderful book. Once I started to read "Diving In" I couldn't put it down. Coll & Art's story is like what a lot of teenager's go through. I especially love the way Kate portrays Coll, she is just wonderful. I think if children read this in their English lessons at school as thier class reader it would help them to think what their life is like & what the good & bad points are of them & how to sort them. I now have to save up to buy the last two of the series.
