David MacMillan, whose name has long been well known on the American gay erotic writing scene, has surpassed himself with Divine Meat. Unlike his other compilations, Casting Couch Confessions, Rentboys, etc which are firmly based in the real world, this anthology draws on myth, both pagan and Christian and pulls together a collection of original and occasionally brilliant stories which are also guaranteed to arouse.
Aside from MacMillan's own contribution, there are stories from such American stalwarts as Barry Alexander, Dominic Santi and Alan Mills, as well as relative newcomers like Louis Carr, Michael Gouda and Bill Crimmin. Each one brings an original and exotic twist to the theme of sex between God and Man. Highlights are Philip Markham's evocative and exotically beautiful Night and Day, Santi's thought provoking Gift of Eros and Jay Rennie's cutely sexy High on a Hill.
With sixteen of the sexiest stories I have read in a long time, this is definitely a book I will be keeping by my bedside for those moments when I need a little Divine inspiration.
