The first book in this series is set in a parallel world, and in the second we get to see the heroine, Shannon come back to her own world. The premise is good, and as someone who enjoyed the first novel I was looking forward to meeting all of the characters from Shannons old life. I was interested in reading about the mirror images of the people you are introduced to in book 1. However, the more I read the more surprised I became...the characterisation is sketchy at best, and each and every encounter that Shannon has with the people from her old life is disappointing to say the least. Its as if the author can't be bothered to write about anyone other than Shannon, who I have to say is extremely annoying and self important in this book, and her husbands mirror image - the most boring man on earth.
However, all of this aside, the absolute worst parts of the book for me were the infidelity and the rape of a teenager - both sanctioned by a frankly moronic 'goddess'. The only character that I felt was actually developed in this book was that of Rhiannon, who you do end up feeling sorry for. I didnt read through to the end, but from skimming, I have to say it was as predictable as they get - I could see it coming a mile off and all I could think when it happened was 'good riddance'. I absolutley hated this book and as I have mentioned, had major issues with the infidelity and rape which the author doesnt seem to have had. Can't belive I actually paid for this rubbish - I would never read another book by this author again as I dont think we have the same values. I would avoid this one, especially if you have read the first - it won't live up to expectations.
