Anything even approaching a comparison is lazy. Name checking groups like The Streets, The Fall etc is fine, but I personally have never heard a band like Sleaford Mods. Perhaps a pisstake, but mostly true. Hailing from just outside sleaford, Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn embody modernist culture. This isn't a throwback. This is a throw up. A throw up of everything wrong with britain. Pushing the boundaries with visceral, sarcastic lyrics and layered beats and bass, these two men are a formidable force. They aren't in it for the money, to find a niche audience, to schmooze or garner publicity. This is working class poetry. If every person who hated their job was to listen to this album, they'd walk in on Monday morning with a resignation letter. Visceral, sarcastic, witty lyrics that will make you laugh or cry. I'm a firm believer in music that tugs by the heart strings or by the hair. This does both. This is the sound of pissed off britain. These boys are the ones to watch. See them live before they start selling out bigger venues.

Angriest and sharpest album I've heard in a couple of years... The ferocious swearing will drive away some; but underneath the rawness, incredible truth is being spat out. At times it's reminiscent of the energy of the Stooges, but with the political sensibility of a Billy Bragg or Woody Guthrie. The angriest point the Streets ever reached is the starting point for this fierce team. There are tunes in there too; but this is really so much more about the words... I await the next instalment with interest.

Listen. This is the most important band of your generation. No one is listening to them though. Just goes to show how much apathy there is in the UK nowadays.

I suppose you're always looking for something to come along that justifies faith in popular music. I'm old (ancient in fact) and I work in classical music these days. I'd just about given up hope of hearing anything outside of classical that wasn't just a way of passing the time or repeating past glories. This album burns the inside of your ears. There's no way anyone can keep up this level of intensity for long, no doubt in a few years they'll be collaborating with Pixie Lott or appearing on I'm a Celebrity, but in the meantime this is the most important British album in years. Unbelievable. Get it now.

I have all the Sleaford Mods albums after seeing them at the Buffalo Bar in Islington 4 years ago. The later albums, including this one use drum loops and itchy basslines as a musical backdrop.

The earlier CD's used samples from all over the place. The one constant is the verbal tongue lashing that spits and sneers all over the top. It sounds one dimensional but to my ears the combination is perfect.

This recent album finds the Mods in the spotlight as press darlings and I await the 'build them up and knock them down' syndrome that inevitably happens when the press tire of their latest musical obsession. That's the journalists problem not the Sleaford Mods'.

I love them so I won't actually describe the music because you all should have heard them by now. To me they are the perfect soundtrack to the country at the moment, if you don't like swearing or scatological humour you will miss the honesty that pervades the lyrics.

We need more of this in our music!

Intelligent ranting, the voice over basic beats just works, if you're new to Sleaford Mods then I'd suggest Divide And Exit over Chubbed Up, beware of strong language though the lyrics are so poignant to the UK in 2014, that's what makes SM great, telling it as it is.

Raw outbursts of truth - Will make you laugh, will make you think. Steve Ignorant meets Scor-zay-zee. A blast of fresh air to shake a tamed down music business.
