It is never easy, making the transition from a hugely successful and innovative 80's duo, to a serious solo artiste. But Annie Lennox did it, and she did it with style and finesse. The album is wonderful, from beginning to end. It opens with her hugely successful single "Why", before moving onto more serious material, such as the confessional "Legend in my Living Room", the funky "Little Bird", the eastern inspired "Primitive" and closing with the satirical "Keep Young and Beautiful." This is one of the few albums which you can listen to fully, and all the way through, before realising how good it is. As with all albums, however, there are some slight negative points. Firstly, Lennox's single "Love Song for a Vampire" does not appear on it. Although it was slightly out of place on the 1992 Dracula soundtrack, it would've made a nice contribution here. Also some songs are slightly placed the wrong way round (you work that one out). BUT, a stunning album, which merits being considered on any top 10 (or even top 5) of greatest solo female albums. Well worth buying!
