'A powerful novel well anchored in contemporary events' Maxim Jakubowski, The Guardian

Product Description

From her surgery window Dr Megan Banesto watches as the body of Bianca Rhys is dragged from the local pond - a paranoid schizophrenic (famed for her outrageous claims and stories), her death doesn't come as a surprise to the local community. Soon after, when a ten year old child goes missing, Megan begins to wonder if Bianca's scandalous statements about disappearances from the village were really the truth rather than symptoms of her disease. Set in the claustrophobic atmosphere of a small Welsh mining town, Disturbing Ground is a gripping novel which seeks to find the truth about the shifting boundary between sanity and insanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars I AM SO GLAD I HAVE DISCOVERD PRISILLA MASTERS!!, 1 Sep 2005

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Disturbing Ground (Paperback)
For ages i had been looking for a really good book to read. the type of book you just carn,t put down. i searched and searched and then came across this little gem by Prisilla Masters. As some one who likes british crime novels by woman aurthors i thought i had just about exusted them all, that is until now. Disturbing ground is a medical murder mystery set in modern times in the welsh vallies. the caracters are totally believable and the plot twists and turns right until the end. could not wait to read more from pricilla masters and have made it my mission to read all her books.who ever it is who is quoted on the frount off this book saying that Masters is "more than a match for Rendall or Christie" is not wrong. wholely believable, interesting, sinister and spot on realism make for an excellant read. Disturbing ground could easily be read in a couple of sittings if you got the chance, it would be just the thing for a rainy afternoon. Well done prisilla Masters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Claustrophobic world, 21 Dec 2010
By Srdjan Pesic - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Disturbing Ground (Paperback)
Priscilla Masters, a prolific British mystery writer, spent part of her life in Wales. It seems that she has mixed feelings about the place. The mining village of Llancloudy is not a turist destination. Desolate, depressed place full of smallminded and judgemental people.
Everybody gossips and minds everybody's bussiness, and to sweeten the pot, most of them have a mean streak too.
This is not a light cozy of tea and scones, this is a dark and forboding world of revenge and hatred. And a reluctant sleuth, Dr. Meghan Banisto somehow stumbles upon a resolution.
Four stars for colors and atmosphere, but less for the puzzle and excitement.
