Slow moving 25 Jun 2011

It started well...but it became very slow moving and in the end I had to flip through. Even though I could to some extent identify with the personal history of the characters, it was all too repetitive and long winded.

Undecided 28 Jun 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
After just finishing this book, I am undecided on my opinion on it.

It's good points are that it is very well written - the author clearly has a talent and the storyline is moderately interesting

The bad points are that at times it meanders off all over the place, to the extent that you are not sure what the book is actually about? Indeed I did not really know what the storyline was until about 40% in. It is also overly long.

One other gripe I had was that, like most US crime stories I have read recently, some of the actions of the characters are just so unbelievable, especially in the amounts of alcohol and coffee they consume! In one part of the book I swear the main character just kept drinking all manner of alcoholic drinks, despite it being about 5am and the character being so tired he was hallucinating. Authors really need to cut out this insistence on unbelievable character actions.

Overall I have rated it 3 because as mentioned the author is a very good writer; just needs some creative editing to tidy up the story

Superb 23 Nov 2011

I don`t agree with any of the reviews that said this book was slow. Its a terrific book, with a great narrative and it moves along at a fairly brisk pace. I was gripped from the first page.
