Proper passion, emotion, and lyricism that will lurk in your head forever...
Previous albums have done sadness and solitude, but here, Scroobius adds anger, frustration, and madness to the mix. Best song for me right now is "Let 'Em Come", where there's a dark optimism to the pending meltdown, but "Death of The Journalist" is a close second.
There always seems to be one song on his albums I can't get on with - last time it was "Cauliflower", this time it's "Soldier Boy". Like the punk riffage, just a bit 1-dimensional compared to the rest, and 30 years too late? But, if I loved it all, it wouldn't be on the edge, would it?
The collaborations with the other writers/vocals change the pace and style, but it still feels so well crafted and precision tuned.
