Punchy dystopic trilogy 13 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Very good follow-up to the horror triptych 'Totentanz', this time three science fiction shorts highlighting excess in aspiration, consumption and self-determination respectively. There is a touch of Cormac Mccarthy in the middle tale (as the previous reviewer mentioned), and Philip K Dick fans will enjoy the idea of brow-beaten future cops and tailored euthanasia...a great quick read for less than a pound!

A DANGEROUS VISION 10 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This anthology consists of three short stories, PERKS OF THE JOB, STILL AND THE DEATH MACHINE.
I am familiar with PERKS OF THE JOB from the Kindle All-Stars anthology Resistance Front, and I was a beta-reader for Simon on THE DEATH MACHINE. They are both excellent.
The story that was new to me was STILL, and it is by far my favorite of the three.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, it conjures the bleak majesty of THE ROAD by Cormac Macarthy, and in the moral dilemma presented within the story, it reminded me very strongly of one of my favorite-ever-novels, THE EARTH ABIDES by George R Stewart.
Simon pulls no punches with his prose, and has a clean, hard style that reads well.
This is well worth your dollar/pound, and you'll be hard-pressed to disagree with me when I say that these three short stories are real gems.
