Product Description

When Earth Navy Captain Christina Serenity is brutally attacked by a traitor, her life is saved by Security Forces Corporal Michael Carlson. On the heels of her recovery, her ship is attacked by terrorists, and she is thrown into a difficult assignment. She must chase after the only clue they have, a Martian ship called the Phobos, and find out what secrets it hides. To make matters worse, someone still wants her dead.

This is the second edition, released February 2014 to correct typos, and mistakes in the first edition.

Her ship, E.S.S. Australia embarks on a mission that leads Serenity on journey of discovery, friendship, betrayal, and revenge. She quickly learns the only thing harder to prevent than war, is love.

Now Serenity must trust her protection crew to keep her alive long enough to solve this puzzle while trying to prevent an interplanetary war.

The line has been drawn. Who will cross first?

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced Space Opera 28 April 2014
By Angus
Format:Kindle Edition
Christina Serenity is the youngest Naval Officer to have made Captain of a capital warship, in this case the ESS Australia. Due to her youthful age, her aggressive interference in the drug trade and perhaps other things she is constantly under threat of assassination.
Corporal Mike Carlson is assigned to protect the Captain along with his new partner Officer Janice Kanter. He’s protecting her from many things and he carries many buried issues as he does his job, protecting someone he cares about more than professionally.

Conspiracies, treason, aliens of both friend and foe threaten to tear apart the peace that Mars and Earth have lived in for many years. This book moves fast and characters the author builds do get hurt or die.

I enjoyed this military space opera. There are some choices, like referring to a carrier in space as an aircraft carrier, that I didn’t care for but all in all the story kept my interest. I finished it in two sittings. Four out of five satisfying laser blasts are hereby awarded.

3.0 out of 5 stars It may be ok but 25 July 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I couldn't finish it. I found the writing style quite naive but what really did it was the wrong words created by the transfer to electronic media: allowed instead of aloud, to instead of no, perused instead of pursued, etc, etc, etc. There were so many they totally spoiled the flow of the story. Needs a serious proof read.

Awesome book I could hardly put it down. Good strong characters, plot reveals itself a bit at a time and has a couple of nice twists to it. Well written and am looking forward to reading more books by the author.

3.0 out of 5 stars A great story, poorly delivered 4 Jan 2013
By William F. Leffert - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed the story, for the most part. The idea is solid, but the execution is.. well.. Atrocious. I don't think there is a single paragraph in this book without a serious spelling or grammatical error. I even saw at least one case of the wrong "their/they're/there".

If you're a grammar nazi, avoid this book. If you can get past the mistakes, its not a bad read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, Good story! 2 Dec 2012
By C. C. P. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I received this book for free but I would have happily purchased it. I liked it a lot and found myself quickly involved with the characters and the story. So much so that I stopped to check if there was another book in the series. Unfortunately not. My only critique would be that the one risqué scene be changed or omitted. I did not feel it added to the story and it left me a bit confused. I would be curious to read how others felt about it.

The story ended a bit abruptly and the ending was unexpected. I knew the end was coming, I just did not expect it. Not a bad thing, just a surprise.

Otherwise, good first novel. I believe the author has great promise. I will be watching for his next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good characters and storyline. 28 Oct 2012

Format:Kindle Edition
A good book and worth a read. I am looking forward to the sequel. The story is well written and the setting internally consistent. Certainly it is worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! Can't wait for the next one! :) 29 Mar 2013

This is the first sci-fi book I've read, apart from any homework assignments over a decade ago. I was a bit tentative at first, wondering if I'd be able to follow all the military/space lingo. But I did! And the flow of the book is amazing! A real page turner!! :)

The relationships between the characters, the sudden action scenes that seem to pop out of nowhere; all make it a really great book! My reading pace is fairly quick as it is, but with children to care for, I wasn't able to just sit and enjoy for hours at a time. Even still, I began reading I believe last Friday, and it's now Friday again. So yeah, definitely a page turner! I didn't want to put it down at night, but I was literally falling asleep with my cell phone (ebook) in hand! :P

Great job, Richard!! :D Really awesome to be reading a book from a longtime friend. I had no idea back in high school that you were a writer, but man you got some mad talent buddy! :D

So, when's the sequel coming out, cuz I can't wait to read it! :P I'm going to have "book world withdrawals". hehehe

4.0 out of 5 stars Rewritten? 31 Aug 2013
By Dale B. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
In the acknowledgments, the author talks of rewrites and editing, but with all the misspellings and errors I don't think much editing was done. I enjoyed the story line but the end lacked a great ending. It just stopped with a one sentence ending. This needs another rewrite but when you own your publishing company it may be hard for an editor to say so.
