The Cablesson Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter lets you connect an advanced digital monitor, such as the 20" or 23" Apple Cinema Display, to a MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air with a Mini DisplayPort. Mini-DisplayPort is a miniaturized version of DisplayPort, the newest digital display interface developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). The new MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air each have a Mini DisplayPort that allows you to connect an external display or projector using an adapter. You can use an external display as your main workspace or to extend your desktop, or you can work in mirrored mode with a projector so you can view what your audience sees. Specifications Support Mini DisplayPort 1.1a input and DVI output. Support DVI highest video resolution 1080p. Support DVI 225MHz/2.25Gbps per channel (6.75Gbps all channel) bandwidth. support DVI 12bit per channel (36bit all channel) deep colour Powered from Mini DisplayPort source. Compliant with RoHS, CE, and FCC regulations

NOTE: This adapter does NOT support analog signal. It will only output adigital signal. It can be used with DVI to DVI and DVI to HDMI cables and adapters, but NOT DVI to VGA.

Fine alternative for expensive Apple-adapter 16 Nov 2010

This Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI-adapter works perfectly. It's a bit larger and slightly less pleasing to the eye than the original Apple product, but at 1/3 of the price I can live with that.

Slightly chunkier at the DVI end than Apple's offering but at less than half the price and with functionality is the same it gets my recommendation.

Wanted to connect a second dislay to my Mac Mini and this looked good. Seems to do the same job as the Apple product and is cheaper. Just as nicely finished. Why pay more?
