This converter works perfectly with my MacBook Pro and matches the design of Apple's own cables and converters. To my delight, this converter WILL transmit audio! (The product description has been updated to highlight this.) Your mini DisplayPort output needs to support audio too for it to work. Apple introduced audio support with their late 2009 iMacs and mid 2010 MacBook Pros.

Got this for new (2010) Macbook Pro. Arrived in 2 days, seems well made and works flawlessly when hooking MBP up to a HDTV with a HDMI cable and I can confirm it does carry audio on these newer model MBPs (I did have to select this in System Preferences the first time I used it though).

I bought this after reading many online forums. It is cheaper than the Dr Bott one on apple, but I can confirm that audio is transmitted from my new MacBook Pro. Picture quality is also great, so I can recommend whole-heartedly.

Don't bother
Worked well for a month then stopped working. Tried with different monitors and unfortunately the same bad outcome. Would not buy again. It has been a waste of money.
