I READ MOST OF THIS BOOK,IT IS CONCISE & TO THE POINT WITHOUT MUCH OF WAFFLES & UNCERTAINTIES.IT COVERS ALL THE BLEEDING/CLOTTING DISORDERS IN AN ATTRACTIVE READABLE WAY AFTER A CONCISE EXPLANATIONS OF PHYSIOLOGICAL CLOTTING IN ADULTS,CHILDREN,PREGNANCY.CHAPTERS ARE CLASSIFIED INTO CERTAIN CLOTTING FACTORS DEFICIENCIES, THEN CHAPTERS ON THROMBOPHILIA & ANTICOAGULANT DRUGS EACH IN A CHAPTER WITH VERY GOOD COVER, TO END INTO ABNORMAL CLOTTING IN GENERAL MEDICAL DISEASES CHAPTER & BLOOD PRODUCT THERAPEUTICS CHAPTER AT THE END.
IT COVERS THE PLATELETS PHYSIOLOGY,DISEASES & INVESTIGATIONS IN BRILLIANT WAY INCLUDING GOOD DIAGRAMS/ RECORDINGS.IT WORTH ITS PRICE & WITH ME SINCE 2003 TO USE IT ON NEED.RECOMMENDED TO ALL HAEMATOLOGY TRAINEE & PRACTITIONERS.
ONLY CRITIQUE AGAINST IT THAT IT NEEDS A NEW EDITION TO INCLUDE THE NEW FINDINGS THOUGH NOT MUCH INDEED.ALSO NEEDS COLOURS PRINTING & TO INCLUDE SOME PHOTOS ON CERTAIN ENTITIES LIKE LIVIDO RETICULARIS,PFA-100 MACHINE,FIBROELASTOGRAMS CHARTS...ETC.
IT NEEDS TO PUT CERTAIN RARE DISEASES IN MAIN TITLES OR TOPICS RATHER THAN JUST MENTION THEM IN THE TEXTS OF THE CHAPTERS FOR EXAMPLE: FACTOR IX LEIGHDON,GENETIC HYPERSENSITIVITY TO WARFARIN,BLEEDING DISORDERS IN PARAPROTEINAEMIA & MYELOMA..ETC
AT THE END IT IS VERY USEFUL BOOK TO ALL HAEMATOLOGISTS & CLOTTERS.

Better than the speakers 2 Sep 2008
By Douglas S. Shearer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The book covers all the fundamentals, and while not as in depth as the Victor Marder tome,...it does help in teaching medical students and residents. Some of the chapters were written by faculty members of the University of Vermont. To tell the truth, the printed word is much more understandable than hearing the speakers in person. In all, a good book for learning the basics.
A readable review of coagulation for Boards exams 24 July 2008
By Tetra Pro 2002 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was recommended this book as a concise review of coagulation for my pediatric hematology/oncology specialty boards re-certification exam. The book does not disappoint. It provides the essential information that is useful for study. It provides it in a very readable manner for those who are not coagulopathy mavens. Highly recommended.
