4.0 out of 5 stars The Little Mermaid 3 Feb 2008
This book (The Little Mermaid) is just a shortened version of the movie - without the songs. It has the same characters, Ariel, Sebastian the crab, Flounders the Fish, Triton, King of the Sea and father of Ariel, Prince Eric and other magnificent characters. It has the same events, Ariel does not show up for her concert, which angers her father, she rescues Prince Eric, and many other events take place in this story. The Walt Disney Company brilliantly rewrote this story. Rating and Recommendation: I would rate it 7/ 10 and I would positively recommended `The Little Mermaid the book' to anyone who enjoyed the film as much as I did.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disapointed 18 Jan 2011
This book was described as 'used, very good'. By this, seeing as some books in other sellers listings were only described as 'good', I safely asumed that this book is in a nice condition. I am very dissapointed to recieve this book with alot of scribbles on the pages and a fair few scuffs and scratches.I accept that it was listed as used, but I expected more! Ive bought disney books in Charity shops for 20p that were in better condition! Certainly not what I would describe as 'very good condition'.

4.0 out of 5 stars Naval Studies 22 Feb 2001

FOr those that missed Disney's Limited Series "Little Mermaid" Comics of 1992, this collection reprints the first two comics. Set as a prequel, it tells the story of how Ariel, on one of her treasure hunts, passes through the Black Chasm to run into the Eel People, who have never seen a mermaid before. Adding to this is the emergence of Aquata, Triton's oldest daughter, who is beset by problems of leadership. Someday she will rule, but she can't get any of her sisters to take her serious. In trying to hunt down Ariel, she, too, is captured by the Eel People and is to be fed to the Serpentine, a giant sea dragon. Ariel rises to the occasion with spunk and determination, resolving a situation with intelligence The artwork is very fine, abetted by Philo Barnhart, the man who came up with the character design of Ariel. It is great for children, who see a more serious and grown-up Ariel. It is nice for collectors for the gorgeous artwork and history of Ariel and her life.

I've been a huge Little Mermaid fan for most of my life, but I REALLY love her older sisters. I'm always on the lookout for things featuring the six of them, and when I saw that this book involved the oldest sister Aquata, I had to get it. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pictures in the book! Beautifully done in a very consistent manner. The dialogue was fun and fit the characters, and the plot was very interesting. I found it to be a quick, fun read. Highly recommended.
