Product Description

From Children's Software Revue®

Children join Pooh and his friends at the 100 Acre Wood Kindergarten. There, they find six three-level activities that teach early reading and maths skills, sorting, colours and shapes. Although the graphics and narration are first rate, the activities are on the dull side and the program suffers from a flaw--there's no solid incentive for children to play the games. Users are told they can earn gold stars (yawn) but they're not told how many problems are needed to earn these rewards. For instance, in the letter activity with Owl, children match pictures to letters. We did at least 15 in a row and still received no indication of how many more were needed to accomplish the goal. Sadly, the program has other flaws as well--non-interruptible animations and no way to print a sticker creation. The bottom line--pass on this Pooh program!
  • Teaches: reading, spelling, math, addition, subtraction, numbers, shapes
  • Age Range: four to six years.

Winnie nearly wonderful 16 April 2001
By A Customer
This game was visually very exciting for my 4 year old daughter, who loves all the characters, but the games were strangely mixed, some suited her age very well and others were of a much lower or much higher ability...it would have been better if it were more on one level, then she could play all the games now , rather than wait a year or 2 to be able to play some of them. However, she is a die-hard fan and this does not stop her having a go at all the activities

As overall design the game is fine. The activities are good enough for the children in the age group. However there are some software design bugs. My computer has a very good Yamaha sound board and it became impossible to have proper sound of the game. It feels that the sound come from a very old record. It was not possible to have proper setting by adjusting DMA and IRQ parameters in the PC. Disney refer that by adjusting these settings sound problem can be fixed but they don't say adjust them to which values. There is not the same problem in other Winnie the pooh games. Therefore they must have not considered properly all possible cases while designing the program. I have heard that some people had problems with video settings as well. I will never buy any other Disney game again. It is just waste of money for a program designed by non-professionals.
