Not being one to do reviews, I felt compelled to review this because I feel it's such a magnificent Metal CD. The comparisons to bands like Paradise Lost and Katatonia are correct but I'm not sure about Opeth. Daylight Dies do have clean vocals scattered around but that is the only comparison to Opeth I can draw. To my ears Daylight Dies sound something like an old Dutch Deathmetal band called Threnody, especially their first CD `As The Heavens Fall' both bands use using really strange but melodic chord changes that I think come from using a dropped D tuning.
On the down side I feel that some of the tracks do go on a bit, but not in the way Opeth do by introducing new themes, Daylight Dies just go back to earlier verses or riffs when for me, the song is over.
Being a fan of all the afore mentioned bands I could not help finding this CD irresistible. Most bands I listen in this genre have been around for at least 10 to 15 years so it's very refreshing to hear something this good from a band from the naughties. Hopefully this band will go on to achieve great things with music. The mix is fantastic, the sound has real balls!
