Product Description

Family care lawyer Lilly Valentine’s life is demanding enough. But when she is begged for help by Anwar Khan after his teenage sister commits suicide, she finds herself dragged into a community terrified by a self-styled vigilante group vowing to protect it’s women – by any means necessary…

Treated with extreme hostility by the girl's family, Lilly is about to jettison the case. But when the police turn up and arrest the dead girl's younger brother for her murder, she's knows she's already in too deep.

Together with her new assistant Taslima, Lilly gets caught up in the sinister world of a self-styled vigilante group vowing to protect the 'honour' of the women in their community - and punishing those who 'stray.'

When another young Muslim girl disappears, Lilly knows it's only a matter of time before the group take the law into their own hands. But with so much in her own life at stake, has Lilly finally taken on more than she can handle?

I normally shy away after awhile when an author continually uses the same core characters as I like a change now and again, and like to see what else the author can come up with. But I'm not tired of Lily Valentine, Jack or Sam yet and thoroughly enjoyed this book. Just recently, I've moved a couple of my favourite authors off my list of 'buy them as they are released' to 'get them from the library.' I will be continuing to buy Helen Blacks books as she releases them.

I recommend this read. I don't like grouping authors together, they are all unique so I'm not going to say if you are a fan of Mandasue Heller or Martina Cole you will love this book as personally I think that the 3 authors are all different and take their work in different directions.

If you fancy a good read, with colourful characters, if you are interested in current affairs, as this book has a very strong theme, then give it a try

These books are about Lilly Valentine, who you can not help but like as she has flaws and muddles though life, like most of us and is not perfect. Easy to read books and hard to put down. I think there are about five Lilly Valentine books, so It Is a good Idea If you can read them In order.

great author 6 April 2010
By G. Raja
Format:Paperback
As a trainee solicitor it was great to read a book by a local author also in the same field. The 'landmarks' of luton referred to in the book were also familiar and it was inspirational reading a book about a hard working passionate lawyer!

I liked the way helen black has been able to turn her experiences and cases as a lawyer and create three excellent books. All three are a brilliant read and as somebody who finds getting into books difficult these three were so well written and intriguing I now love books!
