The book didn't have an in depth information I sought. It could maybe be enough for a breeder, or cavy fancier, but I purchased the book with hopes of it helping me in my veterinary practice, and in that the book is simply not good enough. It was pleasant to read, yeah, but it's impact on the total sum of my knowledge is minimal. The only part of the book that I like is the chapter on medicinal plants.

As an avid cavy keeper, not breeder, I've found this book very useful. Specific conditions are covered, mostly being broken down into: clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis etc. Because it's part of the Library of Veterinary Practice, this book goes into detail where most other mainstream books do not. Very good value too, considering medical books specific to cavies are not easy to find.

For the avid breeder, this is a really informative publication. Though technical, it provides a wealth of information and provides specific information in terms of suitable medication for cavies .. something a breeder finds extremely useful.

A very comprehensive book for the treatment of Guinea Pigs, more of a vet. book and certainly not for the part time keeper
