I bought this as a present for my mother who was born in Liverpool. It has given her hours of pleasure and she claims it is the best present she has ever received. A must for the Liverpool migrant who wants to retrace their roots from their Liverpool home.

I have many books concerning the history of my Home Town, but none so readable as this one by Ken Pye. The great merit is the combining of historical fact with up-to-date (2007) tours of the area being reviewed.
After 50 years absence from Liverpool, although most of the major landmarks appear to be still there, I could not possibly find my way around the centre of the city today without the very full details in Ken Pye's directions. So much has changed over the last half-century.
The only slight drawback from this publication is the weight of the book.
It is printed on good quality paper with heavy hard covers, but not the sort of book you could comfortably read in bed, or take on holiday !

I've just finished planning a 7-mile urban walk through Liverpool for my local 20's and 30's Walking Group. I have never been to Liverpool, so I thought I'd better be well prepared. Even though I was disappointed that most tours described in the book were by car, I think I couldn't have had a better guide for my task. The descriptions of the different sights (no matter how hidden the places are) make me really excited about the trip, and one can only hope Liverpool can meet my expectations, it seems full of little gems!

My cousin listens to Ken Pye on the radio over in Cheshire and tells me about how good and interesting he is so when she told me about the book I decided to buy it - I just love my home city of Liverpool and miss it dreadfully.

As ususal - Amazon offered a great price with free delivery so I had my book within 4 days of ordering it and I am delighted with it. There's so much information and interesting facts that I never knew about my native city and I look forward to reading it very soon.
