About the Author

Rene Descartes (1596 - 1650) was a renowned mathematician, scientist, and philosopher born in La Haye, France. He believed that all natural phenomenon, matter, and motion can be defined through mathematics. La Geometrie (1637) is his most famous work of mathematics. Descartes is sometimes regarded as the founder of modern philosophy and one of the first to investigate the mind - body relationship. He later introduced a famous Latin phrase, Cogito Ergo Sum (I think, therefore I am). --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.
