What a happy accident to discover this! I recently saw an episode of the cop show 'Third Watch', where the characters gathered at the Jersey shore to witness the sunrise and come to terms with an terrible accident of 4 teenagers. The song "Give me strength" was so haunting and suitable for the pain they went through, as hypnotising as Sarah McLachlan's song "Fear". On the IMDB-site I found out that song is from Over the Rhine, a group totally unknown in my country the Netherlands. I listened to the short clips on the Amazon-site and was pleasantly surprised by their talent in story-telling and mood-setting. So I treated myself to this compilation!! The CD arrived in top condition, as usual protected by thick packaging. This album is my start of a beautiful friendship with Over the Rhine.

This is a fantastic album,with all Over the Rhines best known songs on it.I have been a fan for a couple of years after finding them by chance on a compilation album.If you havent heard them do your self a favour and buy this-even my two teenage daughters like this album!

The only other Over the Rhine album I own is The Trumpet Child, which is very accoustic. This is much more pop in places, but the vocals are great and the sound is downbeat, but catchy. I particularly liked 'the world can wait'.
