I read somewhere that this guy used to be a folk singer, writing earnest little songs that found only a small audience. I'm so glad he decided to turn his talents to big old dumb pop music -- this single and the previous "Love Part 2" are among my favorite pop songs in a loong time.
The music is fun, bold and infectious - it grabs you from the first listen. But it's the direct, soulful words that pull you deeper and deeper into the song. There's giddiness and sadness and hope and disappointment, anger, revenge and surprise. When I listen to these songs, it's like a funny friend telling me a sad story. It comes from a real human heart, and I never want it to end.
