Been a fan of HK releases since day one and I think I've got 95% of all the releases.

This CD is great value for money with 18 tracks on both CD's but for me this is what let's this album down. I want the full versions of songs and this feels semi mixed. I remember the days of 12/13 quality unmixed songs on each CD which kept the quality very high and certainly assisted me when I Deejayed.

I hope Team Kandi read these reviews as the punters just don't know what to expect these days from each release and patience is beginning to wane.

I've been a fan of Hed Kandi's "Disco Kandi" and "Disco Heaven" series from the very start, but it seems they're moving toward the wrong direction. What their hardcore fans loved about the previous compilations was the long unmixed versions of the best vocal/soulful house music, and this set is a great disappointment. Original creator of these series left the company as soon as it was taken over by Ministry of Sound and since then Hed Kandi has seen a decline (not on venues or promotion where Ministry has always done a good job) but Ministry's annuals are full of 3 minute one-hit wonders, is that what Hed Kandi is going to do? Hed Kandi even released a new series called "Destroy the Disco" and that's what the new management is actually doing. Move to Fierce Disco instead

I have followed Disco Heaven for years now and have always loved Disco Heaven the most out of all house compilations and just can never get enough! Every year has gotten better and better and better! Until......

Disco Heaven 2008... Lets just say that it's still cool, but it sounds like a round up of the best tracks from all the Stereo Sushi volumes this year, butchered and then poorly mixed and blended with boring tracks you would normally find on one of those Ministry Of Sound Housexy compilations. There have been so many other great funky, soulful diva house tracks out there this year so it's a bit of a let down.

While I'm disappointed, I am gonna be positive for next year. Fingers crossed for 2009!

Purchased the album without noticing the non-stop mix (which is not even great)... I m going to have to buy good several tracks separately. Hed Kandi should not go into that commercial direction... Head for Fierce Disco IV instead.

At last hed kandi have dropped a cd which pays to homage to the original concept of the "hed kandi" movement ie vocal led house(instead of this insipid non talented hard house nonsense!!!)IN THE FIRST CD ANYWAY.
The 2nd cd falls back into the trap of two bob sounds and the 3rd does the same thing in that it is entirely "nu disco" which i personally as a person brought up on the good groove find totally rubbish., so in conclusion if (like me)your idea of a top dj is the god that is joey negro or dean "gone wrong " savonne or paul "trouble" anderson then the 1st cd will do the biz but as for the other two cds i wouldnt waste my time!

I have all Disco Heaven albums released from 2002 to 2011. I can't say which I like best, but I can definitely say that this is the worst Disco Heaven release.

The "Disco Heaven" series made its debut in 2002 as the counterpart to HedKandi's popular "Disco Kandi" series (which had its last release in 2007). The concept of Disco Heaven developed into "fluffy and sprakling disco house" which proved to be one of HedKandi's most popular themes. With Disco Heaven 2010 (HK101) the HedKandi-team decided to change the concept to "funk-filled, fresh and filtered Disco House". A change for the worse, if you asked me.

I can't make out much of a difference between the two CDs although I estimate CD2 to be a little calmer. Both CDs are mixed and contain 18 songs each. The songs are about 2-5Minutes long and offer a playtime of 2,5 hours altogether.

With songs like "Groove With You", "Nasty Little Rumour", "Bitch Is Back", "Supaconstellation", "I Still Want You", "Why don't you", "Dub My Disco", "Grace Of God" and "Touch Me" this album offers classics of the house genre that were included in previous HedKandi albums. Therefore, there isn't much new material to be found for people who already have some HedKandi albums. The choice of songs in this release is actually good, BUT the makeover of the songs for this album is extremely poor. Each song is filled which lots of fillers and repetitive sounds which are neither suitable for relaxing nor dancing. Whenever I listen to this album, it makes me feel like there is something "missing" or "wrong" about each song.

I remember when Hed Kandi and especially the Disco heaven series were something special, an antidote to all those lame ministry of sounds compos that came out every week..when Mark Doyle would take the utmost care selecting 22 excellent quality vocal house tracks. The artwork, the songs, the un-mixed format, everything was perfection! You felt you had something in your hand that was a cut above the rest...those days are over! Mark Doyle left and Ministry of sound took it over and completely neutered and commercialised it all. Im sorry to say that this DH is the worst one i've heard yet. Lets forget for a moment the travesty that this CD is mixed with only about half the song, thats bad enough but the quality of these tracks is largely appalling. Handbag house at it's worst. Most of these tracks wouldn't have even made it onto any of the older DH's,most of the tracks are instrumentals, not the pounding vocal funky house belters we used to get in the old days and a lot are just re-works of old 70's disco tracks..yawn!!..hasn't this been done to death!

Last yr's Hed kandi was actually not too bad and i though they were getting their act together finally but they have gone back to drivel with this release. I'll prob go over to Fierce Disco now, this is the last straw for me.

HED KANDI IS DEAD RIP
