Product Description

Our churches and homes need men willing to follow the path of godliness no matter what the cost. This inspiring, popular book has been speaking to the hearts of men for the past 10 years, and its words are still relevant.

Using engaging illustrations, scriptural wisdom, practical suggestions and study questions, Kent Hughes offers a frank biblical discussion on major areas of Christian manhood: family, godliness, leadership, ministry and more. This newly revised edition is for every man who wants to know what it means to be a Christian in today's world.

This book is essential reading for Christian men everywhere. Hughes pulls no punches as he examines areas of life which are vitally important to the spiritual welfare of today's Christian man. Among other topics examined are 'The Discipline of Purity'; 'The Discipline of Fatherhood'; 'Discipline of Mind'; and 'The Discipline of Friendship'. Hughes' approach is at once biblical and practical, detailed and fundamentally readable. For those men who desire greater inward purity, Christ-likeness, practical godliness and relational effectiveness then this book really is a must have. Quite literally a life changing book on personal and godly discipline.

This is a book to put some spine into flabby Christian men. The christian life cannot be allowed to wax and wane according to our emotional state. Discipline is needed and taught here in godliness, purity, marriage, fatherhood, friendship, the mind, devotion, prayer, worship, integrity, the tongue, work, perseverance, church, leadership, giving, witness and ministry.

The author writes with a popular challenging style using many illustrations.Sometimes it sems a bit too American but this does not get in the way of the real spiritual challenge communicated if we are to be disciplined Christian me. This is a much needed book which will be studied with profit by any man. There are practical questions for discussion as well as book recommendations from leading Christians. One minor niggle. How did he do a chapter on leadership and omit being a servant?
