Product Description

Review

Stevenson's writing captivates. Her characters are interesting and original. Her writing on familial relationships is unflinching: she captures the the twisted push of and pull of the sibling bond between Leila and Kate very well. She also excels at creating vivid worlds, from an opulent birthday party at a riverside penthouse and a remote Spanish villa to a claustrophobic flat on a deprived housing estate... It digs deep into the uncomfortable world of human relationships and the unexpected ways in which we trip one another up (Observer )

Talitha Stevenson's new book, while pondering the dangers of 'making money from money', also traces the break-up of a far from recession-proof marriage . . . A heartfelt read (Independent ) --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Book Description

* A powerful and moving novel by a widely praised young novelist --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Talitha really is a talented writer. This is a terrific read, and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I love the way she uses dialogue to evoke a scene. Feels like you are right there with the characters. She's seen some stuff in London many of us just aren't aware of. Very thought provoking and interesting novel. Highly recommended!

I can only presume that the two reviewers who gave this 5 stars (yes , that's FIVE!) are friends or family of the author. Tired , predictable prose , a tired , predictable plot and characters so one dimensional that they are errrmmm...one dimensional. If previous reviewers gave this five stars , then they best steer clear of proper authors such as Ian McEwan, Sebastien Faulks etc as they may simply explode.
If you like airport pulp then buy this, if you like a well written novel, then buy something else.

Disappear

Stevenson is an exeptionally good writer. Disappear is written in a very vivid way that effortlessly transported me in the world of the characters. It is a snapshot of real life with in depth exploration of the characters involved and I loved the way that their inner story is also reflected in the surrounding environment that often expresses the less conscious process and feelings.
Simply brilliant and highly enjoyable.
