I first became a fan of Hybrid back in 2000 when a mate turned me on to their debut album "Wide Angle". As a fan of electronic music (Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Orbital, 808 State, Apollo 440) I immediately fell in love with Hybrid's sophisticated sounds, incredible drum tracks and synth basslines combined with real violins and beautiful vocals by Julee Cruise (who I already knew from her debut album recorded with Angelo Badalamenti and released in January 1990).
"Disappear Here" - originally released in March 2010, is without a doubt the best thing Hybrid have done since their first album. A special mention goes to the breathtaking vocals of Hybrid's new lead singer Charlotte James - notably on the standout track "Break My Soul". The single CD edition has 22 five-star reviews here on amazon.co.uk - out of 27 reviews in total.
This special edition includes an extra CD of atmospheric remixes intended for late-night listening. The second disc includes some interesting interpretations that let you hear Charlotte's vocals more clearly.
If you don't already own the original album - it is definitely worth getting the special edition. You won't regret it!

I am the wrong side of 50 and it was my son who introduced me to this band when all my attempts to find a new source of enjoyable music (together with my faith in old school rock and rollers)had failed. He liked Hybrids formative compositions which are used in gaming and films scores and he lent me Soundsystem. When this was auditioned on my high end hi fi, I was immediately taken in by the wide range of what can only be called techno noises intermingled with soaring film score style electrical and orchestral sounds with some pretty amazing sub base grunts. A few downloads later (!), we had the majority of the Hybrid back catalogue and a new musical era has begun for me.
Between the releases of Sounsystem and Disappear Here, the duo signed up the female vocalist, Charlotte James. Her vocals and songwriting talents figure significantly in this albumn and is, for me, the magic that was missing from the band's earlier releases.
You get 2 CD's. The first is 12 songs (approx 1 hour duration total) and, in my humble opinion, there isn't a bad one amongst them. The highlight is the track 'Break my Soul' which is the most 'complete' songs I have heard in years. The second disc, approx 45 mins. long, contains rearrangements of some of the tracks on disc 1. Some might consider this a waste of money but the remixes, generally, have their 'driving beats' removed which allows for a bit of late night play!
Altogether, I think this albumn is first rate... and there aren't many that I can say that about, let alone keep playing and enjoying month after month.

Music evolves, dance/electronica has evolved into rubbish in general. This is an exception, if you're a Hybrid fan you're probably going to buy it anyway, but I would think this should now appeal to a much broader audience due to the excellent vocals of Charlotte. It's an amzing piece of work, wholeheartedly recomend it to anyone.

Beautiful, symphonic take on their previous work 14 Jun. 2014

Another wonderful Hybrid release. This release is more of a stand-alone great track listing than previous discs, but takes a more symphonic route. Primary con for this one is that it's not a cohesive experience as with their other releases, which wasn't unexpected but I of course wanted more.

Looking forward eagerly to whatever they do next.

a must have addition to an already amazing original album. Offers different acoustic and orchestral versions of the tracks on the original album. If you buy this you will not be sorry.
