Product Description

Review

How to Disappear is a play whose disconnected form mirrors a disconnected world, taking us and its antihero on an odyssey into underworlds of many kinds...An unsettling, dangerous play that makes you want to run away from yourself. --Guardian

Just occasionally you find a piece of new writing that really does restore your confidence in the future of theatre. Fin Kennedy's How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found is an exciting, exhilarating, extremely funny and deeply distressing picture of the 21st century's disposable society, a parable of contemporary consumerism. Part surreal black comedy, part profound human tragedy, it twists and turns towards a compelling climax that leaves its audience engrossed but exhausted...A memorable drama that never loosens its hold and manages to flip between high comedy and something much darker and more disturbing...It is as good as theatre gets and a reminder that in theatre, as in life, the best things often come in small packages. --The Stage

Product Description

When a young executive reaches breaking point and decides to disappear, he pays a visit to a master of the craft in the form of a seafront fortune teller in Southend. Haunted by visitations from a pathologist who swears he is already lying flat out on her slab, he begins a nightmarish journey to the edge of existence that sees him stripped of everything that made him who he was.

Bleeping Marvellous 10 Jan 2008
Format:Paperback
This is contemporary drama at its best. A story about a man who decides to fall between the cracks of society and doesn't want to come back. The trouble is that he doesn't much like the place in which he finds himself.

Fin Kennedy's excellent play contains both humour and visceral, almost painful scenes which counterpoint each other incredibly well. There is lots of strong, adult language, but Mr Kennedy's poetic turn of phrase makes this a great play to read alone and a fantastic one to read aloud.

A little disappointed 23 Sep 2008
By BB - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Well, after waiting well over two months for the book on pre-order I finally received it. Seeing that the book has the exact same title as another book but had no review or book info, I was under the assumption that since it was in my recommended section it must have something to do with the other book of the same title. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I opened it to find that it was a play as apposed to an informative book. I guess lesson learned.

Incredible Play 27 Oct 2008
By Shelley E. Carter - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Saw this play at the Southwark Playhouse in London and thought it was brilliant. Thought-provoking and avant-garde, the message of this play is both immediate, necessary, and incredibly relevant to today's age of technology and disconnection. The themes are largely existentialist, but the play is dramatic and exciting. Best thing I've seen or read in a very long time.

Phenomenal 11 Dec 2007

I saw this show in England and was amazed at its creativity. A must read for fans of more avant garde theater.
