Dirty Work never got a proper release in Europe, It would outdo most other comedies that came out that year, reason for it's lack of success was Norm MacDonald.
Don't get me wrong, I think Norm is one of the most underrated comedians ever, Few months before Dirt Work's release, MacDonald got fired from Saturday Night Live. NBC were unhappy with a bad language and hilarious rant he had Live on SNL. When a head of a major network doesn't like you, he does in a way have the power to ruin you, well try. Dirty Work was black marked and had a hard time getting recognition because of it.
If you look at the cast list you'll be amazed at how much talent was involved, Chevy Chase, Artie Lang, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, Don Rickles, John Goodman, Christopher McDonald, the list goes on.
A lot of the scenes were cut because of it negative release, toned down if you will, Chevy Chase talked upon its release how disappointed he was that a lot of the movie was cut short or had to be re-dubbed to make it milder. He said it was the funniest script he'd read in years.
One sad note bout Dirty Work is that it marked the final movie for the incredibly gifted comedian Chris Farley, Like his idol John Belushi, Farley eased the pressure of fame with drugs, unfortunately it got the better of him.
Never released in Europe on DVD Dirty Work has to be imported, If you have a multi-region player, and like the actors involved you'll not be disappointed. This is Chevy Chases best film since Christmas Vacation.
There's not another movie like it.
