Excellent value at only £8.99,with 25 great R&B tracks on this single cd.If you enjoy Nine Below Zero, The Godfathers etc. You'll love this.All their best tracks are on here "Dirty Water","The Walk","Three Time Loser",too many to name.Why were'nt this band huge,Bill Hurley's voice is phenominal & the bands playing is full of passion. You can't lose out, go on I dare you, take a chance!

How come The Inmates never hit the big time? This compiliation rounds up their 25 strongest tracks - not a dud amongst them. If you like your music in the form of expertly performed hard hitting R&B, you 'll love this. Very much out of the Dr Feelgood mould of superbly played songs with strong vocals - there are a few slightly slower tracks with a hint of brass on too. Recommended.

The Inmates are the forgotten band of British R&B. If you like Rockpile, the Feelgoods and especially the Stones check this out. The best from their 3 albums, this is maximum R&B all the way. There's a good mix of originals and wonderful covers such as 'dirty water', 'three time loser' and 'some kind of wonderful'. Check out Peter Gunn's guitar and Bill Hurley's voice, one of the greatest British blues singers you will ever hear. I can recommend this compilation without reservation to all lovers of R&B.

great post punk garage rock

The Inmates, like Ducks Deluxe and Dr. Feelgood, were part of the bare bones rock revival in Britain in the wake of the punk explosion. If you are looking for great straight ahead rock with a solid bass, drums and telecaster rhythm, this is the place! Stand out tracks include covers of Dirty Water, Talk Talk and Some Kind of Wonderful (all three better than the originals). Their songwriting is not bad, either, with influences as diverse as Sun Records, the Everly Brothers (minus the harmonies) and the Stones. Great party music, evoking images of hot Saturday nights in a Brit pub. I've been waiting for years for this stuff to be released and it genuinely deserves 5 stars. Guaranteed to rock your socks off!!
