Having been a little disappointed with Martina Cole's past couple of books I decided to give a new author a try. The sticker on the cover stating "As good as Martina Cole or your money back" seemed to draw me in. Once I started reading I couldn't put the book down. Just as others have stated I definitely think the book was as good as Martina Cole's early efforts. I'll be on the look out next year for Jessie Keane's new book.

I got this book on a Saturday and everything was on hold-finished the same evening, could not put it down-it was just like Martina Cole's first novels, can't wait for next one. Hurry up Jessie with the next novel!

martina watch out another new kid on the block brill, the book reminds me of the books martina used to write at the beginning as she started out.

this one is really good. I bought it and it had a sticker on the front saying as good as martina cole or your money back. i dont think people will be sending this book back in a hurry.

wel done cant wait for your new one keep them coming.

I was so excited when I picked this up - it reminded me of Martina Cole in her early days. The book didn't disappoint, I couldn't put it down. There were lots of twists and it wasn't at all predictable. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for her next one. If you like Martina Cole, you'll like this.

This is one of 4 books about the Carters. I read them all in the wrong order, reading the last one first, then the 3rd one and finally this one and then the 2nd one but it didn't matter as each book has it's own story. It is set in the East End and follows Annie Carter. This book tells how she met her husband who was the head of the Carter family. I couldn't put it down and read the 4 books one after the other. Am now starting on her other books.

Really enjoyed this, and it also reminded me of M Cole's writing when she first started out. Money back guarantee in the back of this book if readers don't enjoy it, I'm going to write and ask to be notified of the release date of her next book! If you like the style of Martina's original books (before she went off the boil) then don't hesitate to read this.
