Product Description

Product Description

The DHC004 is a powerful and adaptable mains powered handheld for which even the toughest cleaning tasks are simply no match. The 1000W motor, combined with the motorised intense turbo brush effortlessly removes debris and dirt from carpeted areas whether they are in your home, car or caravan. The unique design of the product features an extendable and flexible hose with an integrated upholstery brush, and the crevice nozzle is perfect for those hard to reach places such down the side of car seats. The product also comes with a shoulder strap to make handheld use easier. The generous 6m power cord allows you to clean further, whilst the washable high performance HEPA filter prevents allergy irritation. Finally, the DHC004 contains Microban antibacterial protection, which prevents bacteria growth and removes odours, for a more hygenic handheld cleaner.

NOTE :

As a suggested trouble shooting step there are two possible causes:

A blocked filter may be causing overheating :

1. Remove the dust canister and remove the HEPA filter assembly 2. Slide the mesh cover off the HEPA filter 3. Shake the excess dust from the filter and mesh cover then wash them both under cold running water. Allow them both to dry thoroughly. Renew the filter after 6 washes.
4. Slide the mesh cover back on to the HEPA filter 5. Fit the HEPA filter into the dust canister and refit the dust canister into the cleaner

Flexible Hose and Integrated Brush:

Withdrawing the flexible hose/integrated brush from the vacuum de-activates the belt driven brush. The flexible hose must be correctly fitted for the secondary motor to operate.
1. Pull the flexible hose/integrated brush from the vacuum cleaner 2. Slide the brush forward as far as it will 3. twist the brush to lock it in place.

I just can't stop using this little gem! It is such an excellent cleaner. It is quite heavy (but I prefer to think of it as sturdy) - but the handy carry strap does help with that. The crevice tool works wonders - I have actually run out of nooks and crannies to clean for now, but am on the hunt!!! (I've yet to do my car with it, so am looking forward to that challenge).

I was really surprised at how powerful the suction is, and I have to say, it's better than my normal vacuum cleaner. The results of the cleaning are so thorough - and so easy to schieve - unlike most other normal size vacuums which you can spend ages having to go back and forth over the same spot to pick up something.

The mains lead is plenty long enough and the flexible hose is also better than I first thought - it looked like it wouldn't be very long at all, but it stretches a lot, and the little brush/nozzle at the end is fantastic - it is better than anything I have ever used for hoovering up hair from carpet (my daughters both have long hair, and I often marvel at the amount of it on the floor and furniture!).

Just a couple of teeny tiny gripes - I wish the mains cord had some sort of storage or even a hook to wind it around to keep it tidy, and perhaps somewhere to slot the crevice tool onto. The other thing - I am hoping that I will be able to purchase replacement brushes for the end of the hose, as it is already showing signs of wear and I suspect it will lose power as it wears down.

All in all, I cannot fault this wonderful little device. If I lived in a smaller house, or if there weren't 3 muddy kids in and out all the time - I'd seriously consider this being my only vacuum. It's brought the joy back to cleaning!!!!! Absolutely marvellous little gadget.

The first thing you might need to know about a hand held vacuum is how long is the lead? Well at just under 20 feet, nearly six metres, there should be enough electric flex to sort out the staircase at Downton Abbey, if not at least get you from the power point in the kitchen to the car. On my scales it weighed in at two and a half kilos, not too much to be held in the hand.

The instruction/information leaflets are excellent, durable, well written and clear in a attractive format with plenty of back up also offered on line.

At 1000w there is the power there and so far so good. A first niggly point that could easily have been sorted is that there appears to be nowhere to stow the crevice tool. This means you are unlikely to have it with you when needed and will make do with the round end, encased in its brushy collar.

The rotating brushes on the main roller just won't turn unless that collar is moved up as it is replaced into the machine on the end of the see through hose (which is a good idea). If it is not fitted correctly a microswitch to activate the movement of the roller will not work. Be careful to keep your hands away from the rotating roller, it is open and therefore dangerous; children should not be allowed to use this machine.

The carrying handle gets hot in use.

For me it wasn't as quite as efficient as theElectrolux Stair and Carvac Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner which cleverly tips up so you can vacuum the risers. The crevice tool in that one is neatly attached inside the hose.

It may be a Devil, but I've already nicknamed this 'The Beast'. I wasn't expecting a handheld hoover to be so powerful but ever since I first pressed the power button and it leapt out of my hand and up the curtains this has taken pride of place over my Henry. My wife still prefers to use Henry and I will use it for the larger rooms in our house, but for the car, smaller rooms, and games where I imagine that I am Ash and that The Beast is a handy chainsaw attachment, there is no comparison.

Weirdness aside, The Beast is fairly heavy but not so heavy that your arm will get tired after a few minutes. I'm sure the Microban protection is very special and adds an extra layer of cleanliness to your surfaces but it doesn't make much of an impact to me. There are two ways to lift the dirt, one is fairly poor, but the other is like watching the end of time unravel. The nozzle is very short and the suction power is greatly diminished to the point that I think I heard a spider laughing at me when I tried to suck it up. The plastic attachment is even worse- it is sufficient to suck up any small clumps of dirt, but for those Dust Generals you'll need to slip the nozzle back in it's home and unleash option one. I swear that when I did this, Mr Spider was screaming as I chased him up and down the hall, but his demise was inevitable- actually, if id'd given him a 10 foot head start and stood where I was, The Beast still would have sucked up the spider like a whirlpool. Pressing that power button and feeling The Beast leap upwards in your hand can be a shock first time so be prepared, but every time after that you'll feel more like Lord Vader.
