I'm sure any and every Batman fan has been eagerly anticipating the release of a figure in the new costume that Bruce is wearing since his return. They will not be disappointed. The sculpt on this figure is phenomenal. Batmans gloves have grip sculpted into the palm of his open hand, as well as knuckles and padding to give his punches that extra "oomph!" Body armor (concentrated around his yellow batsymbol) has been sculpted onto his chest, and all the other little alterations to the suit (ultility belt, cape, boots, etc) make this feel like a really cool Batman to have, as well as a wicked modern take ona classic Batsuit. He seems to going for that armored look alot lately. Must be because of Arkham Asylum, and I have to say that I think its pretty cool.
This Batman has enough articulation (about 16 points) to put him into a variety of poses, ususally looking like he's about to kick someones teeth in (I tend to put him in a Jeet Kune Do stance of sorts) or being tall and imposing. He doesn't have as many points of articulation as a DCUC figure, but thats to be expected. The average DCUC figure comes up to his ear (actual ear, not bat-ear), so he should fit in quite well. He's been sculpted to be really ripped! Bruce must have been pumping iron whilst being displaced in time or something. You can definitely tell this is a more seadoned Dark Knight.
If you're buying this figure, know what you're getting in to. With DC Direct, the trade-off is sculpt over articulation. The articulation can range from rather good (like this Batman) or piss poor (Rorschach), so if that doesn't bother you, grab him and the Batman Inc Damien as Robin to go with him. You won't be disappointed.
Also, while he is durable enough for a kid to play with (one solid Batman), I'd sooner get them the DC Universe Classics Batman. The articulation and sculpt are quite well done and should be more than sufficient to entertain a young one for hours.
