Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

A unique and innovative collection of ball pens using the revolutionary pressurized refill which enables all pens to be used in extreme weather conditions i.e. hot or cold, on all surfaces, and underwater, and at zero gravity.

Product Description

We've all seen these in use. The International Space Station guidance computer is malfunctioning and the under-pressure astronauts need to perform a complex calculation to adjust its orbital path. Do they use a Bic biro with a bitten-down end? No they do not. They use the Zero Gravity Space Pen, selected by NASA decades ago as the Rolls Royce of performance writing implements - and still relied on today for its unrivalled performance in Zero G environments. This well-travelled, gas-powered little invention was pioneered on a space mission in 1965 and is capable of working to infinity - and beyond. It works in extreme cold. (Down to minus 50?F). It works in extreme heat. (Up to 400?F). It works underwater. Over grease. Upside down. In fact, it flawlessly performs in some of the harshest environments so far explored by man. Precision stainless steel tungsten carbide ball points, powered by a fully pressure ink cartridge enable this design classic to write longer, cleaner and more consistently than almost any other pen. And, with the complete elimination of leaks and evaporation, it will happily sit at your desk for a century - and outlive you, Neil, Buzz and the entire astronaut corps. When you need to write on, write on with the pen that's right on. And make your point - with a Zero Gravity Space Pen.

The pen itself is ok, but after limited use, it ran out of ink. It looks ok, but I expected a lot more usage before
having to replace the ink .

Good idea for men generally who are difficult to buy gifts for.
Pen comes nicely gift boxed & the fact that it can be used in allsorts of bizarre conditions seems to appeal to everyone from geeky teenagers to the men who have everything- apart of course from a Spacetec pen!

The pen outer part is very heavy. The weight is concentrated at the non-writing end. The fill (refill) itself always smears the first 1-2 letters, after leaving it for a few hours. I am rather disappointed. The pen is 200g, so I knew it is heavy, but it is the weight distribution which makes it really unpleasant for me to write. I hope the smear will go away soon. So far this 8.75 pounds pen fills like a 1.75 pen.

I have had space pens for years and this style was the first one I bought as it was the cheapest and still is. So I have come to love and loath these pens.

Firstly, It doesn't matter which Fisher space pen you buy you will have exactly the same refill inside, so it is going to be price, style and comfort of the pen over the quality of the refill. I find these ones to be a little top heavy, but I do prefer the longer barrel and retractable nib to the break apart style of the bullet pens, but the bullet pens are a lot more stylish (and twice the price).

What you will also find with space pens and their refills is that the ink doesn't last as long as a standard ball point refill and they are around the 5GBP mark to replace. The ink does occasionally blob and due to the nature of the ink you have a smudge risk hours after writing. Furthermore, the ink can leech through certain types of paper. When you go back to your notepad in a few months, you will see the ink quite clearly on the other side of the paper - not a major problem unless you have written on both sides and you need to photo-copy the page.

To date, I am on my 2nd pen of this style due to the barrel fracturing at the base. That isn't too bad for 15 years of space pens, so I am not grumbling about this.

I write on carbon-copy (copy side) paper quite regularly and the space pen wins it every time for me. I do like these pens, but they are by no means the best value for money. If the Fisher Space Pen were a car, it would be a Jeep - solid, robust and can go places that other vehicles can't, but the fuel consumption is pretty poor and the fuel isn't cheap.

I've had this pen for a while now. I got it because I wanted a quality product. Well..... the ink in the first cartridge blotched - meaning that when you start writing you often get a blob of ink on the paper. Once you get going it's not too bad I guess - but it's a lot of money to spend for a product that doesn't match its specification. I eventually decided to buy a second cartridge , but guess what..... it's just as bad. Maybe I'm just unlucky - but I feel that I've been a mug....... The claims that were made for this pen aren't true - that's been my honest experience. Hope others have had better luck - but I would never ever buy another

The pen did not write very well, the ball point always needed wiping to clean off excess ink. The pen lasted 2 months with very little use. Inspecting the refill showed it to be very small.
If you want an inexpensive ballpoint pen I recommend a Parker Jotter. Parker refills do not fit it.
