Product Description

Product Description

Anna is a secretary in the Diplomatic Service during the 'Cold War' era in the sixties and is posted to the High Commission in Lagos towards the end of the Nigerian Civil War. She is both bemused by the eccentricities of diplomatic life and emotionally caught up with the conflict and the struggle of the tiny state of Biafra against the Federal Military Government. Her life in Lagos gradually becomes more interwoven with events in the war and the humanitarian disaster of starving people who have to rely on international aid for food. After a confidential military report is leaked to the press there is an investigation by MI5 which has far reaching consequences for all concerned. Anna's story is fictitious but is set against the real events of the Nigerian Civil War.
