Product Description

All ten episodes from the second series of the BBC sitcom set in a school canteen, written by and starring comedienne Victoria Wood. In 'Catering', Bren (Wood) has her work cut out when a team of decorators, who are supposed to be painting the canteen over the weekend, arrive early. In 'Trouble', Jean (Anne Reid) is struggling to cope with the fact that her husband has run off with a younger woman. 'Holidays' sees Bren looking forward to going to Marbella with Tony (Andrew Dunn). In 'Fog', Bren has a bad day, not helped by a visiting blood donor unit, a prisoner on the run - and a compromising photo taken by Tony on holiday. 'Gamble' finds the dinner ladies looking forward to Christmas - but Bren's festive plans are unambitious to say the least. In 'Christmas', Bren and Tony are having problems, and Bren considers handing in her notice at work. 'Minnellium' sees Philippa (Celia Imrie) getting herself into a tizzy over the factory's New Year celebrations. In 'Christine', a new employee comes to replace Anita, but her chronic flatulence causes more than a few problems in her new workplace. 'Gravy' sees Petula (Julie Walters) delivering some shocking news. Finally, in 'Toast', Bren's success on 'Totally Trivial' has healed the rift between her and Tony. But the canteen's future could be in jeopardy...

Second series of this popular BBC sitcom, written by, and starring Victoria Wood. The programme follows a group of Northern factory canteen workers who manage to find a seam of humour in their humdrum jobs. There's hard-working and normal Bren (Wood), her love-interest Tony the canteen manager, and a clutch of peculiarly eccentric characters both sides of the counter. And then there's Julie Walters as Bren's filthy, drunken, scene-stealing mother Petula. Dinnerladies is a classic magic blend of comedy and touching pathos. Features all ten episodes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A splended second course 28 Jun 2008
This second series is has good it gets. All the cast work well together.Victorias humour will always stand the test of time.
My advice buy series one&two together, and view when ever you need a pick me up. Remind all your close friends what
they are missing, don't lend them the D.V.Ds you may never get them back.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Dinnerladies" are a delight ! 10 April 2014
By kobra Z
The info for this is slightly incorrect, as there's only 6 episodes, not 10 - but this is GREAT fun, ensemble playing at it's best, fans of "Coronation Street" will be in their element, in the episode I watched this morning, it featured, Thelma Barlow (Mavis) Anne Reid (Valerie Barlow), Shobna Gulati (Sunita Alahan) & Sue Cleaver (Eileen Grimshaw )

+ a very early appearance from Joanne Froggatt, who was also in "Corrie" way back, and is now best known for Downtown - actually it's fun spotting people who've gone onto other things from appearing in this, like Maxine Peake.

If you need cheering up, this is the show for you
