Dine out and Lose Weight is a sure road to success. If you follow the plan, which is much easier to understand and follow than the ZONE or Managing the ZONE, you WILL LOSE WEIGHT Guaranteed!! I have lost 45 pounds and my wife has lost 20 plus 3 dress sizes since Aug '97--actually we did it in 3 months and have been in Phase II since mid-November. A number of co-workers are also on the plan with similar results.

I have adrenal innsufficiency and have been on replacement steroids for three years durig which time I gaied 50 lbs on my previously svelte frame. I was told that weight gain was inevitable and most probably permanent. I had tried The Zone, diabetic diets, vegitarian etc, only to be raverous AND to continue to gain relenlessly. I have been on this diet since late June and have lost 31lbs following this healthy and easy diet plan. The aspect of the diet which I feel is particularly advantageous for individuals on steroids is the emphasis on the glycemic index of foods as I am at risk to become diabetic and it is well known that steroids negatively influence the insulin response. I gave this diet to an elderly diabetic who was able to lose weight and manage his diabetes much more easily on this diet plan. I don't use any of the carbohydrate meals (such as cereal for breakfast) as it makes me ravenous.

If you are an executive with a big expense account and eat in fine restaurants most of the time, this book is probably a godsend. For the rest of us, who pack our lunches or eat in cafeterias, cook most of our meals at home and occasionally dine at Olive Garden or Chili's, the diet is extremely restrictive. The food variety depends on the ingredients and cooking techniques available to gourmet chefs. You must be willing to bake your own bread, cook at home, shop for some hard to find ingredients, or do without. However, it seems to work. I've lost 4 lbs in the first week, and have heard great testimonials from friends. I plan to continue and see if I can reach my goal! The book is VERY entertaining, however. The author has a dry sense of humor that makes it quite enjoyable, and his principles for controlling blood sugar really seem to work.
