Fan heaters are an excellent way of providing heat to cold areas quickly and effectively, and their small footprint makes them perfect for standing on a work surface, shelf or office desk. The most common output is 2kW, however for larger areas 3kW is a better solution. Look out for options such as heat settings to control the amount of energy used, plus a thermostat that can regulate the temperature of the room. Advanced features include climate control with LCD displays that monitor temperature drift more accurately than traditional thermostat models. Many models also have a cool air setting more useful in the summer monthsto help circulate the air.

little fan,

The heater works well and serves its purpose. Instant heat, but the colour in the photo is misleading. Its grey not pale green/blue which is why i chose it in the first place. But quiet and affective.

Fan Heaters,

Seems to meet the requirements of top-up localised heating as intended. My criticism concerns the functioning of the "Mains-on" neon indicator which switches off when the thermostat cuts in-thus misleading one into thinking that the unit is off at the mains supply. This design-fault is also prevalent on other contemporary makes of similar products- whereas the earlier models did not suffer this defect.I took this matter up with the makers(Dimplex) who tried to explain this change due to "lack of space" within the haeter - which I find less than convincing!!

The colour isn't specified. I'd describe it as off-white or pale grey. The fan is a simple item, a cold air setting that will give frost protection at about 5 degrees, two heat settings, and a basic thermostat. It has been described as 'quiet' and I suppose that is a matter of perception. I think it is loud enough to be a distraction if you are watching TV. It is quite small and neat and does the job. It seems to be well made and has a three year Dimplex warranty which probably makes it worth paying that bit extra over some of the alternatives.
