Product Description

Product Description

From the creators of the magazine 'Escape Velocity' come twenty-three exciting tales of science fiction. Dimensions is a collaboration between authors Geoff Nelder of Great Britain and Robert Blevins of the United States. Stories include: A secret project a thousand feet under the desert floor... a man held prisoner from the entire world...a mathematician who unknowingly controls all existence, and many more. Nelder combines his unique and often humorous tales with the action-adventure stories of Robert M. Blevins. Their distinctive styles told from different perspectives mesh into the fascinating world of Dimensions. Nelder is the author of the books 'Left Luggage' and 'Escape From Reality'. Blevins' previous credits include 'The Corona Incident' and 'The 13th Day of Christmas'. Great reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars what was the point of that? 16 July 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As with all collections of shorts, there are some you like and some you don't. Sadly for this collection, there were only a couple in the first category and many, many more that left me thinking "what was the point of that?".
I mean, alien fluffy dice? ... come on guys, I'm sure you can write better stuff than this.

3.0 out of 5 stars A collection of bits and pieces 30 May 2012
By R. Sundrud - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
These two authors have pooled their stories to create this collection. Like the proverbial box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. Some of the stories are deeply British in their flavor, some American. Some are tiny little storyboards, and a few actually develop a plot. The characters are never deep because there isn't the time to develop them -- the story is the player on stage, not the actors.

My complaint is that several of these stories are trivial, almost Ferdinand Feghoot (search on Feghoot if you're curious) in nature, the Roswell one for example. One of them, dealing with a cryochamber, was very similar to one I wrote ages ago. Yes, ages. I think it's good for writers to get these stories out of their system, just like every writer has to have someone go back in time and kill their grandfather, just to be done with it (and no, that isn't one of these stories). I hope they keep on writing, and I hope they critique each other's work, as they will only get better with time.
