Those of you familiar with this films producer,Roger Corman, will know what to expect here - fast-moving storytelling;a degree of violence;car chases;comparatively inexpensive production. What you won't be expecting is a really neat storyline which combines two popular myths;and a superb performance from Martin Sheen as Dillinger. The myths in question are 1) was John Dillinger,Public Enemy Number One,really killed by Hoover's men,or was the victim actually his brother;and 2) what really happened to Al Capone's huge fortune? The film neatly combines the two storylines and adds a few extra clever twists. The production looks good;the pace is fast;the script is frequently witty;the characters are well drawn;there are some decent action scenes;and the music score is wonderful. It's never going to come anywhere close to rivalling the Godfather, but for the DVD's budget price it's really good value for money and great entertainment.
